There are three levels plus an intense fast track option. Participants select their preferred point of entry.
Level 1 and 2 sessions take place on the same evening so participants may attend both
Level 1 - ‘Knowledge is power’ sessions
- These are 1 hour each, free sessions take place on Zoom.
- Monday eve 6.30 -7.30 pm
- Speakers with roles in public life will share their knowledge and experience and answer your questions.
Each session will enable the participants to explore the many varied roles in public life. For example, voluntary roles, unelected roles, elected roles, positions in Westminster, local community roles and positions.
The speakers (up to 3 each week) will talk about their own experience in a given role, how long it took them to achieve it, the impact the role has, what the job entails and how to set about working towards such a goal. Learning from their experience and gaining knowledge and shared insights are invaluable to your political and community journey. There is a Q & A session each week for attendees to put their questions or concerns.
Level 2 - ‘Making progress in your journey’
- These are interactive, training sessions for a maximum of 15 participants, with booking on a first come first served basis.
- The sessions cost £25 per session and take place on Zoom.
- Speakers with roles in public life will share their knowledge and experience and answer your questions.
- Experienced coaches, who also have roles in public life, will support your development.
- Monday eve 7.45-8.45 pm
Each week, the speakers will focus on developing a vital skill and abilities needed to stand or progress for any role in Public Life.
There is a Q & A session each week for attendees to put their questions or concerns.
Sessions also include speaking in front of others, making points concisely, improving delivery & confidence through practice in a safe place of positive encouragement. At these interactive sessions, everyone will be encouraged to participate and contribute.

- Social media use and management
- How to become a Parliamentary candidate
- Journey of a Parliamentary candidate to selection
Level 3 - ‘Personal advancement and developing transferrable skills’
Aimed at up-skilling and making yourself the best you can be in political, community and in your career.
- These are small group or ‘fast-track,’ bespoke one to one sessions, and are held face to face or on Zoom.
- They are intended for experienced candidates with specific objectives such as addressing an identified development area or preparing for a selection meeting.

AAs a refresher for those who have stood before as councillors, parliamentary candidates and are again taking on the challenge of standing to be selected in a selection process.
Training will include:
- Thorough assessment and in depth review of your skills and abilities, feedback and identifying gaps to work on and helping you prepare a development plan
- Deliver and hone speeches,
- Answer hostile questions, practice Q and A, practising the abilities to think and reply immediately
- Receive feedback on presentation, and.
- Prepare for media interview
- Personal life skill and media training
Level 4 - ‘Media training’
- This is a whole day session for a maximum of 10 participants with 3 trainers, held in a suitable location with facilities to film. Participant will have the opportunity to give short presentations, receive feedback, practice interview responses and develop their ability to ‘think on their feet.”
